I would like to add: a Reviewer should be 'just that' an option to 'review' the report without Fusion changing the NPI of the treating therapist to the Reviewer.
Currently in Fusion a Reviewer, is also the last person to sign and then Fusion is changing the NPI to that person, instead of keeping it as the actual treating therapist. This is not okay.
A Reviewer should be able to 'review' a report, for a new therapist starting a company or in training - without the name on the claim being changed and making it look like they are the 'treating therapist.' This is currently what happens and is violation to payers as it lists an incorrect performing provider.
A Co-Signer should be the last person to sign and be required to 'co-sign' another therapist's report, i.e. an OT for an OTA or an OT for an OT Student. In this situation, the NPI should change once co-signed for it legally to be billed under the OT.
I would like to request different titles options for those signing off on reports.
During a recent audit, this was brought up by a payer as an EMR glitch that should be looked into. For example, when I am training a new therapist at my clinic, I need to be able to review their reports for an extended period of time to ensure consistency and that everything is being completed correctly. However, the way that Fusion is currently set up, if I am listed as a 'Reviewer' the session is billed under me instead of the actual therapist.
Therefore, when I am treating a handful of my own kids and we have an increase in turn-over like this past year, it is a red flag to be audited, as it makes it look like I am treating more hours than is possible in a given day.
I feel there should be a way for the owner / supervisor to 'Review' reports before being sent off to claims, without it being billed under their name, as it really needs to be able to be billed under the treating therapist.
If a therapist 'co-signs' a report for another therapist (like a COTA or an OT waiting to become credentialed with an insurance company), this should be titled "Co-Signer" not Reviewer, as it is currently.
I would also like to suggest that a Student / Intern has a separate title, as the only options currently are 'Therapist' or 'Contributor' yet they need a Supervisor / Co-Signer to sign off on their daily treatment notes. So, when we set up appointments, is it the 'Therapist' the primary OT / Supervisor, or is it the Student? If we put the student as the 'Therapist' then the supervising OT is just called a Reviewer versus a Supervising Therapist or Co-Signer.
